How this started

We began in paper printing. It is a crowded business, and the competition there is almost entirely on price. Two printers quoting the same job differ by a few percent, and the conversation never gets as far as whether the finished piece actually works where it is going.

Retail displays looked different. Acrylic and metal units solved durability, but they were expensive to manufacture, heavy and costly to send across the country, and acrylic in particular arrived broken often enough to be a real problem on a multi-city rollout.

Sunpack changed the arithmetic. A fluted polypropylene board that does not absorb water, creases without cracking, folds flat for freight and comes back out for a second campaign. Built correctly, it held the loads that most retail campaigns actually involve.

The early years were mostly education. Buyers who had seen cardboard and acrylic had not seen this, and a material nobody recognises is a hard thing to sell on a specification sheet. What worked was building a sample, loading it with the customer's own product, and letting the unit answer the question.

Twelve years on, we run UV printing, CNC cutting, fabrication, finishing, packing and dispatch in our own facility, at up to 700 stands a day, shipping across 12 to 15 states and, on occasion, to the USA and Canada.
