Floor Display Stands
Free-standing multi-shelf units that hold a block of stock in the aisle, at an aisle end or near the store entrance — designed around what the shelves actually have to carry.
A floor display stand is the most visible unit in a retail promotion and the one with the most structural work behind it. It carries the highest total load of any display type, it is knocked and refilled daily, and it has to stand square on a floor that is rarely level.
We design each unit from your product outward. Product height sets the shelf spacing, the depth of the product plus the back row sets the shelf depth, and the loaded weight per shelf decides board thickness, shelf span and whether internal supports are needed. The printed header is sized last, so it reads from aisle distance without making the stand top-heavy.
Most of our floor units are built in Sunpack and fold flat for dispatch, which matters when the same campaign has to reach two hundred stores without arriving damaged.

Sizes and configuration
- Typical footprints range from compact single-facing units to wide multi-facing blocks — the footprint follows your shelf plan, not a catalogue size.
- Two to five shelves is the usual range; fewer, stronger shelves are specified when the product is heavy.
- Shelf spacing is set to your product height plus clearance for hand access.
- Header height is chosen for aisle-distance legibility and stability together.
Printing
- Direct UV printing on the board — no separately mounted print sheet to peel.
- Full-surface artwork including sides, shelf fronts and header.
- Contour-cut headers and shaped top profiles.
- Artwork worked from your files; brand colour references matched as closely as board printing allows.
Folding, packing and assembly
- Flat-pack fold pattern designed with the structure, so the unit ships as sheets and assembles in store.
- Assembly is slot, tab or rivet depending on the load — no tools for most units.
- Folded volume is calculated before dispatch so freight is quoted on real packed dimensions.
- Some heavier custom structures are fixed by design; we will tell you which applies.
Weight and load
- Load per shelf, not total weight, is the number that decides the structure.
- A wide shelf carrying the same weight deflects more than a narrow one — span matters as much as mass.
- Back rows double the load on the same shelf area and are often missed when a brief is written.
- Where the weight is beyond what a Sunpack structure should carry safely, we will say so and suggest a different material or a different shelf plan.
Placement and environment
- Indoor retail placement. Sheltered semi-outdoor use is possible with Sunpack because the board is water resistant, but prolonged sun and rain exposure needs to be discussed first.
Frequently asked questions
How many shelves can a floor display stand have?
Two to five is the usual range. The limit is not the shape but the load: more shelves means more total weight on the base and more chance of the unit becoming top-heavy. With a heavier product we normally reduce the shelf count and increase board thickness.
Will the shelves sag under load?
Not when the shelf span, board thickness and internal supports are specified for the real loaded weight. Sagging happens when a stand is quoted from an outer size without anyone asking what goes on each shelf — which is why we ask for weight per product and quantity per shelf before quoting.
Can the same stand be reused for the next campaign?
A Sunpack unit that has been handled reasonably can usually be folded, stored and put back out with new header artwork. If reuse is part of the plan, tell us — we specify a thicker board and a fold pattern that tolerates repeat assembly.
